60 x 90 ft concrete foundation for a fried pie manufacturing and retail space near Itasca, TX. This was a 4 inch slab with a 12 x 36 inch perimeter beam.
Mom's Fried Pies is a fried pie maker based in rural Itasca, Texas. Founders Simon MIller and his wife Anna have been making and selling fried pies in North Central Texas since 2009. As their business has grown, and more of their family has become involved in the business, it became clear that they needed more production space. Rather than leasing a building, they decided to build a 60x90 ft structure out in the country on some land the family already owned. They decided to hire EW Enterprise to pour the concrete foundation for their light industrial building.
We leveled the build site and trenched the perimeter beams for the slab. Then we built the forms, laid the moisture barrier, and installed the rebar reinforcement. Since this was a relatively light duty slab, the rebar was spaced at 18 inches. We poured the concrete on a cool, but sunny day in February. Despite being delayed by the concrete company, the crew worked hard to pour and finish the concrete as the sun was setting. With the forms removed and the slab complete, the Millers and their other contractors are working to complete construction of the building.
The Miller family has retail plans as well. Their new building will have a coffee shop and visitor center where customers can watch fried pies as they are being made. What could be better than a fresh fried pie in the country?
