Parking Lot Repair for a Dallas Non-Profit

Dallas Services is an early childcare center in Dallas. As a non-profit organization, they were looking for a cost effective solution for their parking lot. Their parking lot was old and in real need of repair. They had substantial potholes and areas of broken up concrete. 

Not only was this damaged concrete unsightly for an organization that wants to maintain a professional image, it was also a potential safety and liability issue. Dallas Services decided it was time to take action and get the damaged areas repaired.

They started by getting bids from several different concrete contractors. Our parking lot repair quote included a total of eight repair areas. They found our pricing to be more than competitive, and signed the contract.

Parking lot repair typically falls into one of three categories.

1. Lightly damaged parking lots can be resurfaced.
2. Parking lots with potholes and isolated areas of damaged concrete can be repaired.
3. Parking lots that have severe and widespread damage require complete tear out and replacement.

This parking lot had the second type of damage.

We began by cutting out the sections of damaged parking lot concrete with a large concrete saw. After removing the old concrete, we drilled holes into the existing concrete and inserted rebar reinforcement. This ensured that the new concrete would be firmly tied into the existing concrete. The rebar was spaced at 18 inches.

With the rebar firmly in place, we poured the fresh concrete. When pouring concrete for a parking lot, you don’t want the finish to be glassy smooth, as that can present a slip hazard when the concrete is wet. After the troweling was complete, we utilized a broom finish to maintain the proper grip.

Responsive service is a part of our culture here at EWE. Since the childcare center needed to continue using the parking lot while we were making repairs, we completed the repairs in two phases, allowing the parents to continue to drop off and pick up their children with minimal disruption.
