When an ambitious food court project called for a full service concrete contractor, our team rose to the occasion with enthusiasm and expertise. Located in The Colony along Highway 121, this endeavor wasn't just about pouring concrete; it was about providing a full suite of concrete services for this commercial project.
The idea of this food court was to create a space where multiple restaurants could exist together in the same building, creating a fun food environment with a variety of choices. To accommodate this vision, we poured parking lots, sidewalks, a driveway, and perhaps most importantly, the foundation of the building itself.
The commercial foundation was approximately 7000 square feet. After the site excavation was complete and utilities were laid, we began work on forming the foundation. We constructed the foundation with piers and grade beams. We formed the grade beams with void boxes underneath to provide a controlled space for soil expansion. These void boxes help maintain the integrity of the foundation for the long haul. In addition, the foundation was heavily reinforced with heavy duty rebar to ensure the long term strength of the foundation.
The building was meant to be accessed from all four sides, so we poured sidewalks and parking spaces around the entire building. In addition, we also poured a separate parking area just north of the building.
In total, we poured about 30,000 square feet of concrete.
Here at EW Enterprise, we love commercial and industrial concrete projects. “It was a really fun project,” says owner Ernie Weaver.
