This was part of a property development by the Ulrich Realty Group. Rather than building an attached garage, they elected to build a standalone shop that could double as a garage. This type of concrete slab is perhaps the most requested type of project by potential customers. It's what we refer to as a light duty slab.

This type of slab is plenty strong enough for a small shop, providing you don't use it for heavy equipment. Rather than a full perimeter beam, it uses a thickened edge and normally includes rebar on 18 inch spacing. The slab is 4 inches thick, and is typically poured with 3000 psi concrete. For larger multi bay shops, a heavy duty slab is a better option.
