Dallas Basement Foundation: Basement and Retaining Walls

With the foundation poured, we began work on forming the basement and garage walls. 

These walls have special details to accommodate the design of the home, such as brick ledges, and special notches for the iron support beams that will span the basement walls.

The walls are 12 inches thick, and are heavily reinforced with rebar.
After the walls were ready to pour, the city of Dallas inspected the walls to make sure they meet building code requirements.

After we poured the basement walls, a waterproofing membrane was installed to the outside of the walls, protecting the basement from moisture, and then the walls were backfilled with dirt.

We also formed up a long retaining wall that runs along the property next to the street. This retaining wall is 12 inches thick.
